When I got home from a recent trip to Cartagena, I had two problems. One, I had to figure out how to uproot my life so I could spend all my time lounging on the beach in South America, and two, my hair needed some serious care. The humidity in Colombia turned my rather smooth hair into a mess. Being so close to the equator means I can’t help but sweat, which means multiple showers a day. Even dips in the pool and swims in the Caribbean are tough. Not to mention the multiple heat-styles I have to do to get my hair looking cute for a night on the town…

My hair was crying out for help, it needed some immediate moisture, it was dry and lifeless, and it looked like I was a month (or two) overdue for a cut.
Beauty Pie is my savior. Offering premium formulas at drugstore prices, I kept praying that some of Beauty Pie’s key products would live up to my expectations. Spoiler alert: they did.
What is Beauty Pie?
Beauty Pie is a membership-based beauty and skincare brand launched in 2016 by Marcia Kilgore, who also founded brands like Bliss and Soap & Glory. By selling direct to consumer, Beauty Pie is able to sell high-quality products at a fraction of traditional retail prices. Think of it as a luxury treasure chest with a wide range of skincare, makeup, haircare, and more at deep discounts, without the big expenses.
How does Beauty Pie work?
You can buy products from Beauty Pie whether you are a member or not. Membership, available on a monthly or yearly basis, gives you the best product prices. All sourced from the best laboratories in the world at prices close to manufacturing cost. Annual membership costs $59 once a year and monthly membership costs $10 each month.
Does Beauty Pie have any similar products?
Beauty Pie doesn’t sell direct knockoffs, but their products are on par with similar, more expensive alternatives. They source their products from the same world-class labs and manufacturers as well-known luxury brands, and are transparent about the typical retail price of similar products. So while their products aren’t exact knockoffs, they have similar formulas that deliver the same results — and at a significantly lower price. My Honest Beauty Pie Haircare Review
As a beauty writer, I’m fortunate enough to get to try high-end (*expensive*) hair care products on a regular basis. Some are worth the extra money, but many aren’t. I can confidently say that Beauty Pie easily rivals brands that cost four times as much. It seriously challenges those brands, both literally and figuratively.
I tried reviving my lifeless locks with three products from Beauty Pie: the Ultra Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner Duo for Very Dry Hair and the Super Healthy Hair Always-On Leave-In Conditioning Treatment. These three are great for all hair types, but especially dry, coarse, or processed hair that needs extra hydration. They’re all packed with nourishing ingredients that restore softness while strengthening your hair.
Beauty Pie Ultra Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner Duo for Very Dry Hair
After just one wash, my hair was smooth and silky-smooth. Maybe it’s the shampoo’s great ingredients, like sweet almond extract seed, which adds shine and revitalizes hair. Or maybe it’s avocado oil, which nourishes hair with omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals. Lusterplex shine enhancer also helps, which fights frizz while detangling and adding shine without buildup.
Beauty Pie Super Healthy Hair Always-On Leave-In Conditioning Treatment
I have a tendency to get oily skin and this didn’t look oily even on the second day. Some shampoos just make things worse by binding to the oil instead of washing it away, but not Beauty Pie. My hair looked refreshed and clean (no residue!) and best of all, it felt healthy and packed with the nutrients it craves.
This conditioner is lightweight yet highly moisturizing – the perfect balance for my long, fine hair. It contains a vegetable keratin blend that helps hair look healthier and stronger, and hyaluronic acid for added moisture. The conditioner comes in a container, which does take up valuable space in the shower, but it’s worth it.
After washing and conditioning my hair, I sprayed on what Beauty Pie calls a leave-in conditioner called a “day lotion for hair.” While some leave-in conditioners can weigh down my fine hair, this option is just as light and luxurious. The hydrating formula is packed with keratin and a blend of vitamins B5, C, and E to help invigorate my hair, and it’s available at a fraction of the traditional retail price.
I’m quite sensitive to scents, so when I first used it, I was relieved to find a lovely subtle almond scent, which is natural and I enjoyed the scent wafting around my hair from time to time throughout the day.
My revitalized hair and I have become a Beauty Pie believer — and maybe even put off my next trim for a month or two!
