If you were asked to find a beauty enthusiast who hasn’t used Moroccanoil, I’d say you’d be pretty hard pressed to find one. The brand’s iconic treatment hair oil gained a cult following shortly after its launch in 2008, and I vividly remember almost every beauty blogger I met (yes, they were bloggers back then, not influencers) blaming this cult product for their success.
You may be wondering what makes Moroccanoil Treatment Oil so special, and it’s all down to the ingredients. Enriched with nourishing Argan Oil, this treatment is lightweight, non-greasy, and packed with nutrients to make your hair look and feel healthy and hydrated. As a teenager with wavy hair and always striving for smooth, shiny hair, this treatment revolutionized the way I cared for my hair, and my love affair with the brand began.
Over 15 years later, Moroccanoil continues to make some of my favorite hair care products (and some body care products, but more on that in a moment). While the original oil still reigns as a most beloved product among beauty fans, it’s not the only reason for the brand’s fame. Alongside their staple treatments, you’ll also find underrated and lesser-known gems, including a super-scented hair mist that lets you slather your entire body in their now-signature scent. Since I’m not one to be a gatekeeper, I thought it was time to share my favorite Moroccanoil products. Scroll to see the edit…

Lightweight Formula

Contains moisturizing argan oil
Reasons to avoid:
May not suit all hair types
You’re probably already familiar with Moroccanoil’s Original Treatment Oil, but what you might not know is that it also comes in a lightweight formula designed for finer and lighter hair types. While the original formula is by no means overly oily, the lightweight formula is noticeably less heavy in the hand and, in my opinion, applies more smoothly. If you’re new to hair oils and worried that they’ll weigh your hair down, this formula is perfect.
2. Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner

Moroccanoil Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner Duo
Reasons to avoid:
It is important to rinse the conditioner thoroughly.
Moroccanoil has a variety of shampoo and conditioner formulas that range from fighting frizz to adding volume, but my favorite is the Moisture Repair Duo. Packed with argan oil, keratin protein, and fatty acids, both products leave hair healthier, smoother, and shinier while still feeling fresh and clean. It’s a hassle-free hair wash duo that lives up to the advertising.
3. Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask

Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask
Reasons to avoid:
Might be too heavy for those with fine hair
To be honest, I don’t use hair masks often because I hate having to wait in the shower for them to start working. But Moroccanoil’s intensely moisturizing mask takes no time at all (5 minutes to be exact) and leaves your hair feeling undeniably shiny and smooth after use. If you have fine hair, I would recommend applying a small amount as it’s quite heavy, but for those with thick or curly hair, it’s great.
4. Moroccanoil Frizz Shield Spray

Moroccanoil Frizz Shield Spray
Reasons to avoid:
May not work if humidity is high
I’ve talked many times about my goal of frizz-free hair and am always looking for new ways to keep it smooth and sleek. I first came across this product as an alternative to Color Wow’s Dreamcoat and I have to say it’s a great alternative if you want to protect your hair from humidity, especially if your hair is dry, as it also contains hydrating argan oil (as do most of Moroccanoil’s haircare products) to nourish while protecting.
5. Moroccanoil Hand Wash

Moroccan Oil Hand Wash
Reasons to buy+
Great scent
+
Non-drying
Reasons to avoid:
Expensive for hand washing
Moroccanoil is best known for their hair care products, but they also have a wide range of body care products. This hand wash is one of my favorite underrated products from the brand, as it cleanses without drying out your hands. Plus, it smells amazing, with the same subtle warm scent as their hair oils.
6. Moroccanoil Brume du Maroc Hair & Body Fragrance Mist

Moroccanoil Brume du Maroc Hair & Body Fragrance Mist
Reasons to buy+
Scent of Summer
+
Affordable
Reasons to avoid:
Not a very unique scent
Another great product from Moroccanoil outside of haircare is definitely their fragrance mist. As a huge fan of luxury fragrances (especially ones that smell as expensive as they look), I had low expectations for this product, but it’s tropical, warm, with a hint of sea salt – the perfect summery, uplifting scent.
7. Moroccanoil All-in-One Leave-in Conditioner

Moroccanoil All-in-One Leave-in Conditioner

Lightweight Formula

Easy Spray Applicator
+
Also acts as a heat protectant
Reasons to avoid:
Very dry hair may not have enough moisturizing power
Combining a heat protectant and leave-in conditioner, this spray is so light you barely feel it on your hair, yet it also leaves it feeling soft and moisturized. I like to apply this to wet hair, with or without heat styling, to add an extra layer of protection and moisturizing oils.
8. Moroccanoil Strong Hold Hairspray

Moroccanoil Strong Hold Hairspray
You might think all hairsprays are the same, but until you try a bad one, you’ll realize that’s not the case. This hairspray from Moroccanoil is effortless, yet powerful, giving your hair a firm hold without feeling heavy or crisp. If you want more flexibility, it also comes in a medium hold type that gives it a little more movement.
9. Moroccanoil Mending Infusion
Moroccan Oil Mending Infusion

Smoothes damaged hair
Reasons to avoid:
Small bottles don’t last long
Not all hair types need a split end treatment, but if you suffer from dryness, damage, or just want your hair to look smoother and sleeker, we recommend incorporating it into your routine. Moroccanoil formula is a great option; simply apply to wet hair to seal split ends and moisturize for healthier looking hair.
