There was a time in the early 2010s when Lady Gaga’s outlandish hair and avant-garde makeup simply signified any day of the week ending in Y. She’s always wowed us with her creative looks, but it’s the distinctive beauty we expect from the superstar. However, she’s spent most of the past decade opting for a more muted look and more classic glamour. So when she showed up to the London premiere of Joker: Folie à Deux with hair and makeup reminiscent of her Born This Way and Art Pop era, it was a surprise, but also a very Gaga-esque return to normalcy.
Gaga, who plays Lee Quinzel (aka Harley Quinn) in the Joker sequel, walked the carpet in a dramatic red dress that not only matched with a puff-sleeved bolero jacket, but also incorporated red into her hair in the form of a cherry cola bob.
The slightly textured, chin-length style features a mostly black base with dark ruby highlights scattered throughout, creating a colorful contrast that’s especially striking with the chopped bangs.
