Every year, fashion and beauty lovers wait with bated breath for their Super Bowl, aka Fashion Week. Fashion Week fans know all too well that many of the beauty moments that grace the stages of the various presentations become trends that we see on the streets, on TV, in the movies, and on our For You pages.
If you want to be ahead of the crowd, you only need to look to the beauty scenes of fashion’s elite, such as Jason Wu, Christian Cowan, and LaQuan Smith. Wet slicked-back hair, natural-looking flushed cheeks, and grunge-inspired eye makeup and nails were at the height of the trend, but we can’t leave out the bolder beauty scenes, such as the statement brows and “less polished hair” seen on the runways of Diotima and Lure. Beauty has always been inspiring, but next year’s trends seem to be forcing us to take it a step further and become more innovative, unique, and purposeful. The runways are encouraging us to take inspiration from our own culture, our past, and everything around us.
Whether you’re into hair, nails, makeup, or skincare (yes, skin is a key component to perfecting any look), we’ve rounded up the best beauty moments worth noting from Fashion Week. Read on and give your routine a reset.
Crazy bold brows

Both Christian Cowan and Lure’s Spring/Summer 2025 collections featured eye-catching brows. For the former’s presentation, makeup artist Kanako Takase used a classic trick to create ’90s-inspired thin brows reminiscent of the icon. “Christian was inspired by the classic glamour of Bette Davis,” Kanako told Stylecaster. “For the brows in particular, she used Elmer’s Glue Stick to create a smooth finish, then applied a powder shadow from Addiction Tokyo’s yet-to-be-released eyeshadow palette to create the super-thin brows that were so popular in the ’90s.”
Lure’s version is a fun take on the textured brow trend, drawing attention to the area for a totally different reason than the width of your actual brows. Instead of the bright colors and crystals we’ve seen before, the MAC Cosmetics team used fabrics from the collection to recreate jet-black brows that contrasted sharply with each model’s skin tone, yet still looked perfect with the slicked-back hair and dark lipstick they were sporting.

The rock star aesthetic popular in the ’90s and early 2000s is slowly making a comeback into the zeitgeist, and nowhere was this more evident than in the hairstyles that worked their magic on the runways this season. At Diotima, hairstylist Joey George used tried-and-true Oribe products to capture the emotions stirred up by the Jamaican religious ceremony of Pocomania. The root word, pukkumina, means “a little bit of madness.”
“The hair is pulled back in a really sleek and shiny way,” George told Stylecaster. “Essentially, it’s a pretty minimal bun, but in contrast, there are little spiderweb-like sections that frame the face, and that ‘unpolished’ feel fits well with the Pocomania theme.” To achieve the style, George used Oribe’s Foundation Mist and Royal Blowout. The former is a watery conditioning treatment that helps revitalize and condition curly hair, making it more manageable, while the latter acts as a heat protectant and also helps detangle and impart a healthy shine.
And at Christian Cowan, Tresemme’s lead hairstylist Lacey Redway came up with the “contoured bob,” a short hairstyle that perfectly complemented the busy, no-frills personality the designer wanted to convey through his collection. “I wanted the hair to follow the cheekbones, with short bangs,” Redway says. “I wanted this woman to feel strong and powerful, but also not bound by the rules. She’s not messing around.” If that’s not the definition of a grungy, indie-ish hairstyle, we don’t know what is.
A little extra neutral nail

While many of the manicures over the past week have been fairly neutral, they continue to feature little details added to take them up a notch. For Christian Cowan, lead nail artist Julie Kandalek created two sets of nails, one of which included a 3D star cut-out detail. “I created an inverted half-moon shape on the tips of the nails with an e-file and applied two layers of CND Shellac Blackpool,” she tells StyleCaster. “I then created star cut-outs with Brisa Glass Sculpting Gel and adhered them to the tip of each nail.”
At Jason Wu, Jin Soon Choi used her eponymous brand to create what she calls “bisque porcelain” nails. “Wu collaborated with renowned Asian artist Tong Yang-Tze for the show, which led to the idea for these nails. I started with one coat of JINsoon Doux, followed by Prim to create a neutral base. To complete the look and create texture, I applied Matte Maker Topcoat for the perfect matte finish.”
Soaked strands
After dominating the 2022 awards season, wet hair is back in full force at New York Fashion Week. The look was spotted at shows by Naeem Khan, Jason Wu, Elia, and more. At Elia, celebrity hairstylist Mustafa Yanaz created the “Laid-Back Slicked-Back” to celebrate Elia’s 10th anniversary. “For this style, we wanted to highlight a ‘laid-back’ look in keeping with a collection that focuses on the power of identity, self-expression, and power,” Yanaz said in a press release. The star of this look? TRESemmé Extra Hold Mousse. “This provides the perfect base for creating your own ‘on-the-go’ style,” says Yanaz.

This style is also super easy to achieve. With dry hair, divide your hair into two sections from your neck to the top of your head and apply mousse from root to tip. Then, dry your hair completely and use your fingers to push it back. Add as much hair gel as you like and you’ll have the “tousled back” look of your dreams.

In the skincare department, glowing skin continued to dominate as models prepped for makeup. At Kim Shui, aesthetician Susan Masutaj used Kate Somerville’s Exfolicate Scrub and the brand’s new Goat’s Milk Moisturizing Cream to recreate that glow from head to toe, while at Jason Wu, the brand’s Mega-A Transforming Serum and Supercell Rejuvenating Serum dominated the show. “The secret to radiant, glowing skin is hydration,” dermatologist Angelo Landricina said at Christian Cowan’s show. “One of my absolute favorite products is La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water. It’s super lightweight and doesn’t interact with any makeup you apply afterwards.”
Naeem Khan’s glow was real, thanks to makeup artist George Sandev. “Glow is the basis of the entire look on today’s show,” Sandev told Stylecaster. “The makeup look is a play of contrasts: light and dark, wickedness and beauty.” “The key to the look (and really, any good makeup) is moisture,” Sandev said. “The foundation that people should be focusing on the most is actually skincare products,” Sandev explained. “No matter what foundation you use, it’s much easier to layer makeup on top of fresh, hydrated skin.”

To prep the models for the Naeem Khan show, SanDeff used ZO Skin Health Growth Serum, followed by Recovery Cream, and finally, Illuminating AOX Serum for added radiance.
Grunge Glam

One of the most popular looks this year was deep grunge makeup, with some brands taking a minimalist approach to the trend and others going all-out. At Wiederhoeft, MAC Cosmetics makeup artist Sharryn Hinchliffe created a “quiet grunge” look, accentuating taupe eyes using the brand’s Connect in Color Eyeshadow Palette in Unfiltered Nude and vampire lips using Nightmoth Lip Liner Pencil.
Jason Wu wore simple yet striking makeup, with lead makeup artist Diane Kendall creating a look called a “floral flush” that focused on the cheeks. “That part of the face is very important in Chinese culture,” Wu told Stylecaster. “In Chinese theatre, red blush has been a symbol of health and prosperity, and I played with that in today’s look.”
Instead of going for a bolder shade, Kendall kept the color on her cheeks more subtle and neutral, thanks to Jason Wu Beauty’s upcoming powder blush, which will be launching in October. “Jason wanted them to look radiant and healthy,” Kendall told Stylecaster. “He just focused the color on the tops of their cheekbones, and then he added a little bit of highlight above the cheekbones.”
