It’s strange to think about it, but if you spend any amount of time in the waters off the coast of Southern California, there’s a very good chance you’ve approached a great white shark without knowing about it. In this video, shark expert Carlos Gauna, who runs The Malibu Artist YouTube channel, dives into his video bank and excerpts some of the “grisly great white shark encounters” he filmed over the summer. I am.
As you know, great white sharks are curious creatures. They are also sneaky and will often try to sneak a peek behind your back if they are interested in something. That’s pretty obvious in most of the encounters seen here.
With Gauna’s drone flight he is familiar with quite a few different sharks, so one interaction stands out.
“As a group of swimmers were enjoying their day, a shark, which is notorious for getting close to humans, came very close to the swimmers,” he wrote. “This is a shark that I am familiar with and was featured in a previous video. This shark has injuries that make me think that an injured shark might be more likely to approach a human. did.”
