Sabrina Carpenter’s voluminous curls on the Short and Sweet Tour have fans divided over whether or not she’s wearing a wig.
Carpenter, 25, kicked off her tour last month with an intense set list, glittering looks and great hair. For her show, her blonde hair was parted down the middle and styled in big bouncy curls with curtain bangs swept to the side of her head. Due to the volume of Carpenter’s hair, fans immediately began speculating that Carpenter was wearing a wig.
Earlier this week, TikTok creator Bella Sprague shared her opinion on Carpenter’s hair, pointing out that it would actually be smarter for the “Espresso” singer to wear a wig to protect her natural hair.
“She should wear a wig because it’s very damaging to style your hair like that, especially when you’re blonde,” Sprague said. Elsewhere on TikTok, she noted that on another night of the tour, Carpenter’s hair looked similar to her natural hair in relaxed curls.
“I just wanted to know, was there something wrong? Did she not like the way the wig was moving?” Sprague asked.
More fans agreed with Sprague in the comments section, writing, “I’ve been thinking about this forever.” Others weighed in on whether her hair was a wig, commenting: This preserves the style for promotional materials and photos. But it’s definitely a wig. β
A third fan suggested: “It was a wig or a topper!” surely! She may alternate between hair and wigs to minimize damage,” another person wrote. It’s so easy to stay in perfect condition all the time. β
Compared to her hairstyle when she opened for Taylor Swift’s Ellas tour earlier this year, her mane is much thicker and fuller on the Short and Sweet tour.

Carpenter’s hairstylist, Scott King, subtly joined the discussion on Monday, September 30th, with a look at how he styled Carpenter’s hair after his show at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, September 29th. The breakdown was shared.

“To style Sabrina’s hair, I used the @wavytalkofficial blow dryer to overdirect her hair for maximum volume,” she captioned a photo of the singer on stage. He continued, “Once dry, I used the Wavy Talk 5-in-1 Curling Wand Set with the 1 (inch) attachment and set her hair into small 1 (inch) sections. After it cooled down, I let her hair down and combed the curls with a wide comb, which separated them a bit but still kept them in a bouncy curl shape. β
Fans thanked the hairstylist for seemingly settling the controversy in the comments section. One person wrote, “Thank you Scott, since the tour started, the wig suspicions have come up π,” while another added, “Your hair is so good everyone thinks it’s a wig lol.”
Carpenter has not yet weighed in on the discussion.
