Welcome to the reality TV rabbit hole. Here, we unravel the lingering questions that have been plaguing us about our favorite reality TV shows.
There’s no secret about Mormon wives and their love of fake hair. In fact, if there’s one thing you can learn from watching Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, it’s that appointments for standing extensions at JZ Styles Salon In Utah, it’s nothing short of sacred.
However, some of the Mormon women who appear on reality shows grow their hair to their waists, and some choose to keep it short. And we couldn’t help but notice those gals getting the villain edit. Just ask the Whitneys.
Whitney Leavitt (Secret Lives) and Whitney Rose (RHOSLC) are both cast in classic reality TV villain tropes. Let’s dig deeper.
Levitt begins the season with short hair, literally shedding her past (and her husband’s Tinder indiscretions) and leaving her “payback” behind in Hawaii. Fans of the show know that Levitt brought drama (and ratings!) every time he appeared on screen. She’s been known for everything from having fun telling all the mommy-talkers about all the crap everyone else does behind their backs to skipping castmate and best friend Macy Neely’s baby mama prenatal vitamin launch. Criticized. (Fuck women who support women!)
“As far as leaning into this quote-unquote villain era, I mean I didn’t like what I saw about myself,” Levitt revealed in a feature on The Cut. So when this show came out, I thought it was really funny that I was categorized as this villain, so I was making fun of it. But I don’t think of myself as a villain. ”
In an interview with The Cut, Levitt even said that hair extensions are “not for me.”
“I don’t understand how people sleep on it or wash their hair on it. I want to feel their scalp!”
Although much has already been revealed about the secret lives of Mormon wives (the rules of soft swinging, the marriage of laughing gas and Botox, the Mormon Affleck family appears in the Hollywood Affleck family tree) (The location, no spoilers anywhere), Leavitt’s bratty figure-shaking-the-bob move seems like a strategic play to stand out from the crowd, but the big bad girl move is more What is it?
Just ask Whitney Rose. The RHOSLC season 5 premiere featured guns fired (and glasses literally thrown) by Lisa Barlow, who labeled Whitney a “villain” on her podcast “The Viol Files” earlier this year, and Whitney vs. Etc. It was a showdown for everyone.
Whitney stormed out of Lisa “Besos”‘s Valentine’s Day party after the confrontation and gave her a sign to leave. Obviously, the rest of the cast is “Team Lisa” for now.

There’s also a new bob on the block, new cast member Bronwyn Newport, who’s hoarding haute couture, and Lisa Barlow looks out for another villain on a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live He told host Andy Cohen: Bronwyn might be a bit of a villain. ” (It looks like Bronwyn and Whitney will team up this season as the villains unite.)
Bronwyn’s bob aside, the fact that she’s wearing yellow cheetah hot pants and a bra top to brunch is proof that she can’t be trusted. Plus, she’s a brunette.
