Dancing with the Stars 2024 Hair Metal Night Dance Styles and Song Selection
First and foremost, I have to comment on Derek’s pointy mohawk. It’s like I’m hooked.
Danny and Whitney – Paso Doble – “Livin On A Prayer”
Great paso song. He really nailed the Paso frame. However, there is nothing particularly remarkable about this dance.
Bruno said we were already rocking, he was strong, rough and ready, and then reminded us to add some artistry. Carrie Ann said she liked the attack and attitude and told her to match it. Derek said there were some timing issues, but he liked the excitement. Gene says he can’t decide which one is hotter, hotter, hotter.
Carrie Ann – 7, Derek – 7, Gene – 9, Bruno – 7 = 30/40
Reginald and Emma – Cha Cha – “I Wanna Rock”
What Reginald’s dancing lacks is rhythm. He does a great job for people who have difficulty moving. He really nailed each step of the cha-cha at a slightly slower pace.
Carrie Ann says he has blown her mind, and even though he is only walking a minimal number of steps, they have great sympathy for him. Derek says he has a dancer on his tour that Reginald’s fan club has voted for him. Gene says it’s all about attitude and there’s something about him. Bruno says he’s very hot.
Carrie Ann – 6, Derek – 5, Gene – 5, Bruno – 5 = 21/40
Chandler and Brandon – Jive – “We’re Not Gonna Take It”
Chandler has the perfect attitude for social situations. This dance was so fun and fast. It truly embodies the hair metal theme.
Derek says he’s in a league of his own, but points out that he lost a bit of momentum towards the end. Gene said she fogged up his glasses so she moved him. Bruno says she’s a natural rock’n’roll diva, but says she’s a bit slippery and criticizes her kicks and flicks. Carrie Ann said she has high expectations for her and could be more edgy.
Carrie Ann – 8, Derek – 8, Gene – 9, Bruno – 8 = 33/40
Brooks and Gleb – Cha Cha – “Nothing But A Good Time”
She doesn’t move in a Latin style, but rather walks like a model. As always, they put a super sexy spin on the dance.
Gene compliments her vibe and personality. Bruno says he has improved a lot. Carrie Ann says she’s grateful for what she just witnessed. Derek says it was epic.
Carrie Ann – 8, Derek – 8, Gene – 10, Bruno – 8 = 33/40
Julian points out that Gene originally entered 9, so they should follow what Gene originally entered.
Stephen and Riley – Foxtrot – “Here I Go Again”
Still need to work out the timing, but what was that burst of breakdance near the end?!
Bruno said he had beautiful lines and put in the work. Carrie Ann said she took notes and made it through, but wanted to know if she understood the movements. Derek says he worked on his frame and timing. Gene asks what he did on the floor, but he’s very unique.
Carrie Ann – 8, Derek – 8, Gene – 8, Bruno – 8 = 32/40
Dwight and Daniela – Paso Doble – “Walk This Way”
Dwight has such a great personality. This may be his most technically correct
Carrie Ann said he has returned to competition and the height difference is less of a concern. Derek said he was the comeback king tonight and that this might be the best dance “by far”. Gene says it was a slam dunk. Bruno said this was a monumental comeback and criticized his hand movement.
Carrie Ann – 8, Derek – 7, Gene – 7, Bruno – 7 = 29/40
Eric and Britt – Paso Doble – “Cherry Pie”
Eric is also one of those who lacks rhythm in his dancing. He only steps rather than dances, but he had a great frame for a paso.
Derek says he loves his determination and spirit and points out that he lost time along the way. Gene says that everything begins and ends with your mind. Bruno said there was a lot of content, but the timing was a little off. Carrie Ann said she is reconnecting with her body and feeling more confident in the way she moves.
Carrie Ann – 6, Derek – 5, Gene – 6, Bruno – 5 = 22/40
Ilona and Alan – Jive – “Cum On Feel The Noize”
Although it wasn’t her best dancing, Ilona and Alan had a great partnership and carried the evening’s theme perfectly. Jive is super fun and packed with content.
Gene says it was great. Bruno said he loved being wild and wonderful, but she was wrong many times. Carrie Ann says everyone is rooting for her and she’s great. Derek said she was a competitor and would come back next week and do great.
Carrie Ann – 7, Derek – 6, Gene – 7, Bruno – 6 = 26/40
Jen and Sasha – Paso Doble – “Final Countdown”
She has great posture and legs for a paso, but she lacks a bit of aggression in this dance.
Bruno says he gave Paso everything he wanted. Carrie Ann calls her exciting and says she danced at the last minute. Derek says it was very calm tonight. Jean said they made a sexy couple and she got along well.
Carrie Ann – 8, Derek – 8, Gene – 7, Bruno – 8 = 31/40
Phaedra and Val – Paso Doble – “You Give Love a Bad Name”
Phaedra always seems unable to keep up with the dancing. However, Val choreographed this perfectly.
Carrie Ann said she had another strong performance, but made some mistakes. Derek said he moved across the floor with energy but made a few small mistakes. Gene says he’s a fan of bad girls and bad boys. Bruno said he had high goals, but he also made mistakes.
Carrie Ann – 7, Derek – 7, Gene – 5, Bruno – 7 = 26/40
I love that you can see Chandler saying, “What’s going on??” Before we go to commercial.
Joey and Jenna – Tango – “Rock You Like A Hurricane”
What a hot tango! Jenna said it was her first time dancing in the hold, and she was thrilled to see Joey in the frame for the first time!
Derek says it was one of the best tangos he’s ever seen from a male star. Jean says it will only get better from now on. Bruno said that’s how he rocked the tango and his leg movements and footwork were amazing. Carrie Ann’s call is phenomenal and compliments every inch of her.
Carrie Ann – 9, Derek – 9, Gene – 9, Bruno – 9 = 36/40
Here are the results after the break!
The bottom three are… Eric and Britt, Reginald and Emma, and Ilona and Alan.
The two couples eliminated are… Eric and Britt and Reginald and Emma.
