Does anyone remember the golden age of television? I’m talking about reruns of Buffy the Vampire Slayer circa the early 2000s, and more specifically, episode 11 of season 6. That moment will be etched in my memory forever. Feeling a little lost? Yes, it featured the iconic scene of Buffy Summers dramatically cutting her own hair, which may or may not have caused a stir among teenage girls at the time. Maybe it wasn’t…guilty.
Decades later, the person who reminds me of those better days is the IRL version of this character, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who just debuted a brand new haircut. However, I have to say this was executed a little more professionally.
Last weekend (yes, this hair makeover was pretty much intact!), Sarah shared a photo of her new hairstyle to her Instagram account, which is followed by 4.6 million people. As seen below, her newly tamed blonde hair received a Sabrina Carpenter-esque curtain bang makeover. “She has bangs 💇♀️,” the actor wrote in the caption.
Hairstylist Barb Thompson was the creative genius behind Sarah’s new cut, mastering the shaggy bangs that effortlessly frame her face like a window, as the style’s namesake suggests. did.
For context, the curtain bangs look has its roots in the ’60s and ’70s with the one and only Jane Birkin (we’re not kidding). So it only makes sense to give credit where credit is due and dub dubbing this iteration of Sarah’s look…
We’re bringing back “Birkin bangs,” baby! Sarah, we’re here to hear about your work – chops, chips, everyone.
