Sidney Sweeney has undergone quite the transformation for her latest role.
On Wednesday, October 16, Sweeney, 27, shared two photos on Instagram from the set of the upcoming biopic in which he stars as former professional boxer Christy Martin. “Thanks to the paparazzi in the bushes, the cat was safe, so I’d like to share a little anecdote from a movie I’m currently working on,” Sweeney wrote in the caption. I mentioned the paparazzi photo.
In the photo, Sweeney wears dark brown hair in bangs instead of his typical blonde locks and flexes his toned arm muscles to play Martin, 56, a contestant in the 1990s and 2000s. The situation is shown.
“For the past few months, I have been training hard to bring to life the story of an incredible woman, a true champion who fought in and out of the ring,” Sweeney wrote in the caption of the post. “Her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope. I’m honored to step in her shoes and share her powerful story with you. More details coming soon :).”

Sweeney confirmed in an Instagram post on May 8 that he will be starring as Martin in the biopic directed by David Michaud (The King). At the time, Sweeney started kickboxing between the ages of 12 and 19 and was “itching,” he told Deadline. “I want to get back in the ring and train and change my body,” he decided for the movie.

“Christie’s story is not a light one. It’s physically and mentally demanding and there’s a lot of weight to carry. But I love to challenge myself,” she told the outlet. Martin stated that she “not only legitimized women’s boxing, but also overcame gender stereotypes” and fought against mental, physical and financial abuse. ”

During her boxing career, Martin was known as the “Coal Miner’s Daughter” after her father’s occupation, according to her official website. She was the first female boxer to sign with the sport’s famous promoter Don King, holds a 49-10-3 record as a professional boxer, and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2020.
“Christie’s story shines a light on Christie’s incredible rise while showing her struggles to achieve fame behind the curtain,” Sweeney told Deadline in May about the film. “I feel like I have to tell a story about a woman who faced so much adversity and didn’t allow herself to overcome it.”
Sweeney’s upcoming film doesn’t have a title or release date yet. The Any But You star has appeared in three films, including Madame Web, Immaculate, and Ron Howard’s latest film, Eden, which recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. He will step down after one year.
