On TikTok, she revealed the three things she’s currently doing to keep her hair in tip-top condition.
sleep with wet hair
Dr. Amna said she always blow-dries her hair before going to bed, as hair is most vulnerable to damage when it’s wet.
“Hair is like a sponge. It absorbs all the water and expands, making it very susceptible to breakage,” she explained.
She adds that going to bed with a wet scalp creates the perfect environment for bacteria and fungi to grow.
hair train
Hair training is the idea that by washing your hair less often, you can reduce oil production in your hair.
However, Dr. Amna said he thought this was a “funny concept” because oil production in the scalp is regulated by hormones.
“Whether you wash your hair five times a week or once a month, it won’t reduce the amount of oil your scalp produces,” she explained.
She added that not washing your hair can cause hair products to build up and cause hair loss.
olive oil
Dr. Aamna says some people apply olive oil to their scalp if their skin is dry and flaky.
However, she revealed that this can lead to fungal growth and actually make symptoms worse.

She said that continuing to use an anti-dandruff shampoo is a much better solution.

4 stages of the hair growth cycle
Hair expert Philip Kingsley shared the four stages of the hair growth cycle: The growth phase, catagen phase, telogen phase, and hair growth phase.
Anagen phase: Also known as the “anagen” or “active phase”, this phase is when the cells in the hair root divide most rapidly and more new hairs are formed.
During the anagen phase, hair grows about 0.5 inches per month (about 6 inches per year), and it grows faster in the summer than in the winter.
This phase of the hair growth cycle lasts on average 3 to 5 years.
Catagen: Following the anagen phase, the hair cycle enters a short transition phase known as the catagen phase. This signals the end of active hair growth and separates individual hairs from the blood supply and cells that produce new hair.
Approximately 3% of all hair is in this stage at any given time, and this stage lasts approximately 10 days.
Telogen: The third stage of the natural hair growth cycle is the telogen phase. This is a resting period in which the hair remains within the follicle but is not actively growing.
An estimated 10 to 15 percent of hair is in a resting phase at any given time.
The resting phase lasts about 3 months or 100 days.
Extrinsic phase: In the final stage of the hair growth cycle, individual hairs are released from the hair follicle and fall out.
Now the whole process starts again.
One person said, “I’ve been saying number two for years.
“You sleep with dirty hair and think you won’t get dirt on your pillow or face?”
Another said: “Okay, don’t go to bed with wet hair.
“But I still only do laundry once a week.”
A third added: “Yes, sleeping with wet hair is the worst!”
