I have always been fascinated by the numerous methods discovered to remove body hair. And as someone who wants to get rid of dark, coarse, and rapidly growing hair, I tend to try them all.
Inspired by TikTok, many people are trying out an inexpensive, reusable device that claims to “erase” body hair, exfoliate skin, and prevent ingrown hairs without razor blades or skin irritation. I decided to take a look. It didn’t seem real.
I will quickly allay your doubts and say that after using this magic, my skin has never been smoother. But there are some things you should know.
My first question was, if there’s no blade or mechanism to pull the hair, what actually removes the hair? The secret is said to lie in the tool’s etched glass surface, similar to those found on glass nail files. Manufacturers of this device and similar options say that when you brush, the crystal surface rubs against your skin, causing hair breakage. This process also has the effect of exfoliating the top layer of the epidermis, which may be why my skin felt so soft after use.
In most cases, this is only provided as information provided by the company, so follow it as appropriate.
The eraser can also be used on the armpits, arms, and bikini line, but I can only speak to its use on the lower legs.
Left: Leg hair growth over 4 days. Right: Immediately after using the Crystal Hair Eraser on the center part of the shin. My skin is brighter and my hair is gone.
Another advantage I have experienced with Crystal Hair Eye Laser is the slow regrowth. When I shave with a razor, I end up with scratchy stubble the next day, but when I used an eraser, I experienced completely smooth legs all day long.
We also appreciate the device’s reduced environmental impact. It is completely reusable, does not require replacing blades or cartridges, and does not require soaking under running water to use.
When it comes to cons, this is not the fastest way to remove body hair. Also, the flat surface is not ideal for hair removal along body contours such as knees and ankles, which requires some creative maneuvering.
The fact that this clever little device costs less than $20 is reason enough to give it a try, but you can look further down for something more compelling. Or if you’re already ready for baby-soft skin, see below.
Promising Amazon reviews:
“It just arrived today and I sat down to use it tonight. It worked! I live in an RV with a small water heater, so it’s better than shaving my legs with cold water. Well, very It worked so well that I’m sure I’ll use it all year long. My skin also felt smooth and felt great afterwards.” – Tracy
“I thought this would be a complete waste of money, but it actually worked. I have sensitive skin and am prone to ingrown hairs so I wanted to try it. My skin was so soft after using this. I haven’t had any ingrown hairs or skin irritation since I started using it. It takes more time than shaving, but it’s worth it for me.” – Amazon Customer
“I was skeptical at first, but it really removes hair and exfoliates. My skin has never been so soft. I will buy another one for my mom.” – Satch H.
