Ever since Kim Zolciak-Biermann joined the Bravoverse on Season 1 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, we’ve always seen her with bright blonde hair (of course, as she speaks in the video above) wigs as well). But before she tried bleach blonde in the 2000s, Kim once had extremely dark brown curly hair.
In the photo below, we were shocked to see the “Don’t Be Tardy” alum in her younger years with voluminous curly black hair. The Pensacola, Fla., native (he grew up in Windsor Locks, Conn.) is pictured in what appears to be a classroom, wearing a school uniform and with his hair slicked back.

Kim Zolciak tries a new brunette shade
Kim has always sported a bright blonde hairstyle for the past few years, but over the summer she went back to her roots and went deep brunette.
Kim’s eldest daughter Brielle Biermann showed off Kim’s hairstyle on her Instagram Stories, sharing the color and a photo of Kim and writing, “(B)Lunette Kimmy????”
In the snapshot, Kim rocked her dark, long, deep brunette hair. The brunette then recorded a video of her mother with new hair (presumably a wig) and gushed about how “amazing” her mother looked.
“So the midlife crisis is going well, or–?” Kim joked about her surprising hair transformation.
“I never thought a 53-year-old would look so good,” Brielle said jokingly, making Kim grimace. “Are you really cute?”
(Just to clarify, Mr. Kim was born on May 19, 1978, making him 46 years old, not 53.)
Kim Zolciak shows off her ‘real hair’
In addition to the brunette style Kim showed off in June, the Atlanta resident also revealed her “real hair” in a photo in February. This was something of a revelation for her followers, as Kim loved wearing wigs.
“So many questions! Yes, this is all my real hair!!” she wrote over a photo of her blonde, lightly tousled hair. Kim also mentioned her favorite hair products during a social media conversation with fans.
