Lindsay Lohan talks about the hair color she’ll never try again

In case you’re limiting your screen time or just busy, Lindsay Lohan is officially back. She wowed at Paris Fashion Week with an impeccable Balenciaga look (and even waved “hello” to NYLON), and overall she’s looking great. Notably, her signature waist-length strawberry-blonde hair has never looked so good despite her busy schedule filming a number of Netflix movies, the long-awaited Freaky Friday 2, and most recently a commercial for Nexus. It looked healthy.

The hair care brand encourages Lohan to grow into a triplet version of herself in the ad as she tries out slick sticks, hair oil, and XXL hairspray. This includes the obligatory Freaky Friday callback and a nod to Meredith Blake’s ice-cold diva-ness in The Parent Trap (unfortunately, neither Harry nor Annie were available). In between promoting her latest Netflix project, Our Little Secret, Lohan talks about how she maintains her style during grueling days on set and which of the movie’s character’s hairstyles are the best. He answers NYLON’s hot questions, including whether he likes it (and whether he’ll never try it again). , and what product she can’t leave the house without.

Your ad contains plenty of easter eggs that allude to your previous roles. How has your relationship with hair (and being a redhead) changed since then?

My relationship with hair has definitely evolved from my previous roles. At the time, I had fun trying out different looks for each character, but I didn’t really think about the long-term care of my hair. Now, I am more concerned about staying healthy and strong. Nexxus products help keep your hair healthy. This is very important to maintain the characteristic red color. Being a redhead has always been a defining part of my look, and I’ve really embraced it over the years. It’s iconic in its own right, and I love how this campaign pays homage to my past roles while showing how my style has grown and matured.

What’s your 5-minute hair routine when you walk out the door?

When I’m in a hurry, I try to style my hair quickly and easily. First, apply a little Nexus Repair & Nourish Ultra Lightweight Hair Oil to the ends of your hair to add shine and tame frizz. If you’re feeling a sleeker look, grab the Nexxus Slick Stick to smooth out splatters and keep everything in place. Very useful for creating a sophisticated atmosphere in no time! If you have a little extra time, you might add some loose waves or a chic ponytail. When I step outside in less than 5 minutes, my hair still looks coiffed.

What’s on your get-ready playlist when you get your hair done?

My prep playlist really depends on my mood. Before an event, I like something bright to energize, but if I’m having a calm day, I might choose something more relaxing. It makes a big difference, but either way, playing music while getting your hair done will help you get into the right mindset. It’s part of my daily routine that makes this process more enjoyable.

What hairstyle would you never try again?

One hairstyle you’ll probably never try again is the thick highlights from Freaky Friday. I loved them back then. They were bold, fun, and perfect for my personality. But looking back, it’s never a style I want to revisit. Right now, I’m all about timeless, more natural, blended looks. It’s funny how trends come and go, but I’ve learned what works best for me and my hair.

If you could do anything to your hair for one day and then go back to normal, what would it be?

If I could change my hair for just one day, I might go back to that deep auburn color. I’ve always loved its rich, vibrant feel. But then again, I loved it when she went really blonde too! I’ve gone platinum before, and once you get lighter, you want to keep getting lighter. It’s fun to try, but you need to be careful to stay healthy. That’s why I always rely on products like Nexxus to keep my hair nourished through these changes.

You’re back on the set of Freakier Friday 2. How do you take care of your hair on long days?

It’s great to be back on the set of Freakier Friday 2, but the long days can definitely take a toll on your hair. To stay healthy, I focus on hydration and protection. I like to use a lightweight hair oil like Nexus Repair & Nourish Ultra Lightweight Hair Oil to keep my hair smooth and shiny throughout the day. Great for reducing frizz that can occur between takes. It’s all about giving your hair the care it needs to stay strong and vibrant even when exposed to the demands of a shoot.

Which of your movie characters has your favorite hairstyle and why?

One of my favorite hairstyles among movie characters is Ashley from Just My Luck. Her hair was always very sophisticated, voluminous, perfectly styled, very attractive and perfect for her character. I love the bouncy, shiny waves she wore, and it’s a look I’d definitely want to recreate today. It was fun, feminine, and timeless. Achieving the same healthy, voluminous look is easy with Nexxus products.

When did you first dye your hair?

I’ve always loved experimenting with my hair, so you might say I started playing with color pretty early on. Over the years, I’ve tried so many shades, from deep auburn to light blonde. It was a fun journey. But to be honest, it’s less about the first time I dyed it and more about how I’ve learned to work with it through all these changes. That’s why Nexxus is my go-to. It helps keep my hair healthy no matter what color or style I’m trying.

What hair product do you always have in your bag no matter what?

One hair care product that I always have in my bag is Nexxus Slick Stick. Whether you’re running around on set or heading out to an event, it’s your savior for controlling flyaways and keeping your hair smooth and polished. It’s super easy to use on the go and instantly pulls together your look no matter what style you’re wearing.
