Every time Angelina Jolie steps on the red carpet, all eyes are on her. Since her rise to superstar status in the ’90s with roles in films like Hackers and Gia, her style and beauty have evolved significantly, with haircuts ranging from a shaved head to a blonde bob and beyond. I’m trying. But lately, she’s been leaning into her signature sun-kissed fluidity and explosiveness. This timeless style is perfect every time, but it’s always exciting when she shakes things up a bit. And that’s exactly what Jolie did when she showed up at the Los Angeles premiere of her highly anticipated film Maria with a voluminous ring of curls that got everyone talking.
For the Oct. 26 screening at AFI Fest, Jolie turned to celebrity hairstylist Renato Campora. He was also the mastermind behind the recent ’70s disco curl featured on CR Fashion Book’s September cover feature. But while the Eternals star has dabbled in big hair lately, her latest version had some key differences. While hipster magazine shoots favored a more editorial effect with more defined zigzag waves, this version felt decidedly more effortless. The actor, filmmaker, and humanitarian opted for a more beachy, windswept look with a deep side part and brushed curls, paired with neutral eyeshadow and a soft cat eye. and paired it with Raul Alejandre’s signature makeup, including a bright red lip.

The Tom Ford beauty ambassador drew attention to her bouffant waves by keeping her wardrobe ultra-minimal along with her timeless make-up. In fact, her silky champagne-colored dress and draped black jacket echo her recent Manhattan outfits, adding an effortlessness to her entire look.
“Maria,” set to be released in theaters in select cities next month before streaming on Netflix starting Dec. 11, sees Jolie embody the bel canto singer in a series of brunette mid-century hairstyles. We hope to see further changes in beauty on screen. Very near future. When it comes to her actual lifestyle, Jolie’s textured curls have fans excited to see what she does next on the red carpet.
