We see a lot of celebrity hair transformations, but it’s only sometimes that an A-lister’s new look truly makes us go “wow!” Julia Roberts recently elicited a similar reaction with her textured lob, but Angelina Jolie’s new ’70s-style curls have taken the top spot.
The actor is known for her long, dark hair, which is mostly styled straight and sleek (slightly wavy at best), in keeping with her signature Gothic aesthetic. So when she dramatically changed the mood with her bouncy “disco curls” on the red carpet for the premiere of her new film “Maria,” we had to do a double take before we recognized her. It didn’t happen.
Expertly crafted by celebrity hairstylist Renato Campora, Angelina’s soft, effortless curls are golden autumnal blonde and sway over one shoulder, with the roots kept dark. Her flipped parting added even more Pre-Raphaelite volume, and a bold red lip and matching red manicure ensured she didn’t stray too far from her famous personal style.

It’s currently unknown if Angelina’s hair is naturally curly, but it certainly seems like a possibility. Either way, we expect to see her unleash her natural texture more often. Because it really, really suits her.
