A Florida woman charged with second-degree murder for putting her boyfriend in a suitcase and suffocating him has asked a judge to have her hair and makeup professionally done before her trial. The unusual plea was made by defendant Sarah Boone during a pretrial hearing, in which she said she wanted to dress appropriately for court. Nevertheless, the judge rejected her plea, citing safety concerns and other considerations for such an arrangement for a defendant with a felony.
According to a report on Courtroom TV, the judge initially agreed with the defense team to allow her to apply makeup after entering the courtroom, but the Orange County Sheriff’s Office intervened and asked for safety information related to makeup. He said there is a problem above. It is considered a prohibited drug in prisons. The motion was therefore denied.

According to the Mirror, Ms Boon told police that after playing hide and seek with her boyfriend, they were both extremely drunk and fell asleep for about 30 minutes. She said she thought her boyfriend, Jorge Torres Jr., had come out of the suitcase. Boone also said she believed Boone was downstairs because she didn’t see him next to her the next morning. She went down to look for him around 11 o’clock in the morning.
According to the Daily Mail, investigators found a video on Boone’s cellphone that showed Torres screaming “I can’t breathe” and begging him to let her out of the suitcase. The suspect paid no attention to it.
Newsweek reports that Boone has been in and out of court on various charges since his arrest, and has changed attorneys multiple times due to conflicts and disagreements. She has now chosen to retain an attorney and is representing her in court. Boone is awaiting trial on charges including suffering from battered spouse syndrome and being forced to answer police questions without Miranda rights.
During preparations for trial, Boone became rebellious and violated regulations, including decorating his prison uniform with prohibited staples, and his behavior in prison came to the attention of authorities. Nevertheless, she continues to explore tactics to gain an advantage in court.
The trial is scheduled to begin on October 7, 2024. If convicted of second-degree murder, Boone could be sentenced to life in prison.
