Cut Bar & Grill returns to Sydney
In Sydney (never mind Australia in general), steakhouses are a dime-a-dozen affair. But despite its ubiquity, The Cut manages to stand above the rapt crowd. After having lunch there earlier this week, Team BH came to this almost unanimous realization.
Hunter Street Hospitality’s upscale chophouse concept has been on long hiatus since 2020, but lovers of the beastly protein know it’s located near The Rocks, with wood-panelled and moody lighting. You’ll be happy to know that it continues to exist in a location underground.
This scene speaks volumes about what’s on the menu. While there are plenty of perfectly satisfying pick-me-ups on the menu, like the yellowfin tuna crudo ($32) or the signature Gibson cocktail with freshly shucked Sydney Rock oysters ($35), the restaurant’s signature dishes… It would be foolish to deviate. A 450-gram slice of horribly decadent prime rib beef ($110).
Slow-cooked overnight and sliced tableside to order, this dish is the foundation of a full-fledged “fucking big” luncheon. Throw in a Bombe Alaska ($19) and a few shots from the digestif trolley and you’ll be smiling all the way home, even as you slip into a blissful meat-induced coma.
Saint Louis Moisture Repair Shampoo
A cruelty-free shampoo that offers salon-quality at an affordable price. So why do we worry? There are actually several reasons.
First and foremost, St. Louis Says is homegrown. It was started by the same friends behind Brisbane-based barbershop Twin Palms.
Made without added sulfates or parabens, all St. Louis Says hair care products are vegan-friendly. For example, this “Moisture Repair” shampoo is suitable for all hair types and is formulated to address excessively curly, knotty, or otherwise brittle hair.
What’s more, the online store of this brand has a lot of interesting copies. Like the line that advertises this shampoo’s scent as “formed in the foothills of Tuscany.” It doesn’t bother me one bit.
Salvatore Ferragamo “Hug” tote bag
Creative director Maximilian Davies continues to pursue a consistent and coherent creative direction, and has been praised by critics for bringing a “fresh glow” to the brand.
The desire to instill a freer, more youthful sensibility in one of Italy’s great footwear brands is crystallized in “The Hug.” It’s a reboot of Ferragamo’s leather range, and it bears its name with a thoughtful, slight wink. design.
The back panel of the bag is intentionally oversized and asymmetrical, allowing it to wrap around the sides where the clasp is attached. When viewed from a distance, it gives the impression that two people are hugging each other. It provides impressive visual effects without compromising on subtlety.
Westholme Wagyu Restaurant Series
In partnership with Applejack Hospitality, Westholm Wagyu Cattle Kings will offer a series of ticketed events across the company’s portfolio of restaurants. It’s all about heroizing the noble North Australian Wagyu beef.
Taking what they call a “nature-led” approach to raising, feeding and slaughtering Wagyu beef, Westholm’s difference is reflected in three unique food experiences. This includes the very decadent MBS9+ “pure” variety. The versatile “Cross” is made to suit a variety of flavors from around the world. and “Glass,” which emphasizes terroir.
From now until mid-November, enjoy all three, prepared in a variety of culinary styles, at Applejack’s three venues. Tickets can be viewed here.
Our Legacy “Shelter” Sunglasses
Obviously, my colleague Andrew is interested in the Y2K aesthetic. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have targeted these big-browed sunnies who would look perfect at a Matrix-themed cosplayer convention.
All kidding aside, Our Legacy’s “Shelter” frame is a big mint for the brand. And as far as Speed Dealer’s aesthetics go, it’s well-made and thoughtfully executed.
As always, these are equipped with Carl Zeiss Vision lenses and accommodate all types of face shapes and genders. Handcrafted from Mazzucchelli acetate, the gold standard in the luxury eyewear industry.
