Sidney Sweeney, who played Cassie on HBO’s hit show Euphoria, took a look at all the Euphoria-inspired Halloween costumes, complete with themed pajamas and lots of candy.
“I haven’t decided on a costume yet, but I’ve been buying Halloween pajamas, fall candles, and lots of fun pumpkin arts and crafts,” the actress told Bazaar. “Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I love candy. I’m not picky, I’m a sugar addict.”
Sweeney loves Halloween so much that she spent her recent 27th birthday celebrating the spooky holiday a little early at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights. And just days after her own birthday, she celebrated a big birthday: Kérastase’s 60th anniversary. Sweeney, an ambassador for the luxury hair brand, showcased her musical talents in the campaign alongside Emily Ratajkowski and Ebony Davis, singing a sultry rendition of “Happy Birthday” like none other than Marilyn Monroe.
Aside from her expert vocals, Sweeney’s sleek hair was another star of the campaign, so we sat down with her to talk about the secret behind her “fluffy and soft” hair and her Halloween plans. I did.
What changes have you noticed in your hair since you started using Kérastase?
Before I started using Kerastase, my hair would come out of the shower dry, flat and greasy, but now it’s so fluffy and soft. This is incredible because I have really fine and oily hair, but up until now I’ve been using the Premiere line and it’s been difficult to find products that don’t weigh my hair down even more. Honestly, my life has changed.
Do you feel more like yourself with long hair or short hair?
I’ve had long hair most of my life, but recently got a trim to cut out all the dead ends. I’m currently on a hair care journey, and I feel most like myself when I let my hair air dry instead of frying it. I’ve learned a lot about my hair. My hairstylist Glenn Coco has helped me tremendously on this journey. He incorporates hair treatments into my routine before red carpets and interviews. The biggest change for me is that I now process my hair before using tools. Because before, it was just protecting your hair and not protecting it like it should.

What is your biggest hair mistake?
I used to curl my hair every day when I was in middle school, and I still can’t believe I did that. And not even the pretty kind of curls, ringlet curls that you don’t brush out. I look back and say, “That was a no.”
I didn’t know any better than that at the time, but I’m making up for it now. Which of your characters do you think has all the Kerastase lines in the shower?
Kathy, for sure. she’s doing everything.
Are you adventurous with your hair? Do you think you’ll always be blonde?
I’ve been playing with it for the last few years. I dyed my hair blonde for Kathy. I then dyed my hair red for another role (singing the national anthem), but had to quickly dye it back to blonde. It fried my hair. I was the girl who would come out of the shower with my hair pulled out like cotton candy and tears streaming from my eyes. I then started focusing on getting my natural hair as healthy as possible before coloring it again and utilizing wigs as much as possible.

Is there a color you feel most comfortable with?
I love embracing all colors. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to express yourself. Hair really helps bring out different sides of yourself. I love myself no matter what hair color I have.
Please tell us about working on this campaign. You’re a great singer and I feel like that’s one of your hidden talents. Do you only sing on special occasions? What was it like on this shooting day?
I have stage fright like crazy. Everyone rolls their eyes when I say this, but I am, so I was nervous throughout the shoot. But it was really fun to get together and celebrate Kérastase. We were all in great spirits, had beautiful hair, and felt sexy.

You just celebrated your birthday too! Both you and Kérastase are Virgos. I saw you went to Universal. How was it?
Yes, I went to Halloween Horror Nights. I’ve been going there every year with my dad since I was little, and this year we’re planning to shoot in North Carolina throughout October, so I thought I wouldn’t be able to go (around Halloween). As it turned out, my birthday was my only free day. We can’t break tradition! I brought my dad and some friends.
I love it. Did you have a favorite birthday so far?
Indeed, it’s one of them. Last year was so much fun. It was a dreamy 80’s prom themed birthday party. It was great to see everyone embrace this theme and I felt lucky to see how much fun my friends were having. This year, the atmosphere was more modest and homely.
What do you like most about being a September baby?
All I can think is that my parents must have really enjoyed the New Year.
You’re planning to be on set for Halloween, so are you planning to celebrate?
We don’t know yet what the Halloween trick-or-treating vibe is like in this area, but we’re bringing it home. We’re going to decorate the entire trailer with things we get from Target and have snack baskets for everyone on the crew.
