From over-washing to using the wrong water temperature, many Brits are unknowingly damaging their hair with poor hair care habits.
But adopting good habits is one of the easiest ways to promote the health and appearance of your scalp, experts noted.
Chris Wenzel, known online as ‘Professor Blowout’, has warned of common mistakes people make when it comes to scalp irritation.
She says: ‘Scalp stimulation should be part of your cleansing routine, as it improves blood flow to your scalp and hair follicles.
The scalp is more prone to inflammation than normal skin.

“Blood flow brings nutrients, and those nutrients promote healthy hair and hair growth, both of which are good.
“But just like anything else with hair, there’s a right way and a wrong way to do this.”
When it comes to scalp irritation, less is more, argues Chris. She added: “If someone recommends an hour-long complex massage with a wooden brush, it means they are doing you a disservice.
“The scalp is much more prone to inflammation than normal skin. Once it becomes irritated, it’s very difficult to get it back to normal.
“If something makes your scalp sore or red, they’re far more likely to hurt you than to help you. In fact, there’s no benefit to doing such things. there is no.”
Doing too much at once can overstimulate your scalp and cause it to become inflamed.
This irritation then triggers a series of events that are unfavorable to the appearance of the hair.
For example, scratching can destroy the oil layer and encourage fungal growth on the scalp, both of which cause dandruff and dandruff.
Normally, the skin sloughs off to remove irritants, but scratching simply exposes the scalp to more irritants.
In another clip, the hair care enthusiast also advised people to stop combing their hair.

Chris claims that countless women make this simple mistake and ruin their hair, saying: “Combs are one of the best ways to ruin your hair.
“The problem is, most people learn how to do their hair from their mothers, and she’s just teaching what her mother taught her 30 years ago. It’s so outdated.
“You probably don’t dress like your grandmother or watch the same TV shows and movies. So why do you wear your hair like your grandmother?”
Chris urged women to “never” use a comb to detangle their hair, risking tearing it out.
