This year, as head stylist for Victoria’s Secret, Duffy’s vision took center stage at one of the year’s most anticipated fashion events. We will talk exclusively to HOLA! Backstage in the US, he shared the pressure and excitement of leading a team responsible for the hair of 50 of the world’s top models.
“It’s a little stressful, but you know, we’ve got 50 of the most amazing women in the world in one room, and we’re trying to make them the best version of themselves. So, It’s a lot of work for my team.”They put a lot of effort into expressing what they feel is their most powerful and most beautiful self today. ” he said.
Known for its signature voluminous, bouncy hair, Victoria’s Secret is stepping in a new direction this year with more texture, structure, and personality. Duffy explained how this evolution happened:
“Yes! To be honest, I relate to 95% of the girls there and have worked with them on shows in Europe for years, so we always have an ongoing conversation. A lot of people who are on this show today have been having these conversations for weeks…but to be honest, this is a celebration, I stand here and say it’s a celebration of individuality. I’m not going to say that because it obviously has a story and it’s not a celebration of individuality.”

Duffy emphasizes that the show is moving away from traditional uniform beauty, but is focused on highlighting the models’ natural features, adding, “We shaved off a lot of the low-maintenance hair. We’re looking at what they come in with and amplifying it, and other girls. Some of them had more extreme shapes,” he told HOLA! united states of america. “There was a bit of a nod to the ’70s in the super-sized wavy silhouette, and then other girls were working on their hair to look like a lion’s mane.”
