I’m one of those people who tend to forget that my hair needs some love too. After all, when skin care is a full-time job, there’s little space left for hair care within your beauty routine. But then Wella Professionals’ new Ultime series came out and let me just say I literally had a serious “AHA” moment. There are four products in this series, each with powerful effects. The shampoo, Intense Repair Hair Mask, Miracle Hair Treatment Serum, and Miracle Night Hair Treatment Serum are all formulated with AHA (alpha hydroxy acids) and Omega-9. It removes dead cells from your skin, leaving it with a radiant, fresh-looking finish. But what about my frizzy ends and lackluster hair? Let’s just say I was intrigued (and a little skeptical). So, for science, beauty, and my own hair’s cry for help, I tried out this series. Here’s what happened:
first impression
Let’s talk about packaging. Wella is clearly going for a “luxurious yet minimal” vibe here, and I’m all for it. With its pop of red and sophisticated design, the bottle will look right on your bathroom shelf. At least you’ll feel like you’re about to give your hair a luxury spa treatment. And in some cases, isn’t that half the battle?
Cleanse & Repair Shampoo
What was the first thing you noticed? The smell. It doesn’t have any over-the-top scents, like “trying to smell like a rainforest is nonsense”, and just a pleasant scent when you “get out of the shower”. Now, when I saw that shampoo contained AHA, I was imagining something irritating, like scrubbing my scalp. In fact, this was one of the most gentle cleanses I’ve had in a while. My scalp felt refreshed and my hair didn’t lose moisture. Because hydration is important to prevent your hair from looking like straw. I was surprised at how light and soft it felt, even when wet (unusual for my frizz-prone hair). I usually expect a shampoo to give me a “squeaky clean” feeling, but this shampoo walked the perfect line. Honestly, it feels 12 times smoother and 99% less breakage.
Repairing Intense Hair Mask
It’s no exaggeration to say that this mask is like a spa day to deep condition your hair. In terms of consistency, it is creamy and luxurious. I applied it liberally (because if I’m going to do a hair mask, I’m going all in) and left it on for a while, mentally preparing myself for more shinier hair. After rinsing it off, I felt what can only be described as the ultimate softness. This is where Omega-9s truly shine, deeply nourishing each strand of hair, while AHAs gently repair the damage caused by years of heat styling.
miracle hair treatment serum
The Miracle Hair Treatment Serum is exactly what the name suggests, and Wella isn’t here to play with it. You don’t want your hair to feel like it’s covered in an oil slick, but you also need something to smooth everything out. This serum manages to do both thanks to AHA and Omega-9. The usual frizz was tamed and my hair looked shiny within 90 seconds. My hair felt soft, moisturized, and smooth even after styling. This serum is a keeper. Finally, the Miracle Night Hair Treatment works wonders on dry hair. This treatment is revolutionary for those looking to rejuvenate their hair overnight. I applied it before bed and when I woke up, my hair was noticeably softer and more manageable. It works its magic while you sleep, and by the morning your hair is nourished and revitalized.
my verdict
Wella’s Ultime series is a must-have. If your hair suffers from this (I did too) then you owe it to yourself to try this. The combination of AHA and Omega 9 feels like a one-two punch of exfoliation and nourishment. I will definitely keep these in my regular rotation as my hair has never felt this good. Now, excuse me as I dramatically flip my newly shiny hair.
