Devin Townsend has had some pretty interesting hairstyles over the years, from his pretty extravagant locks as a teenager to his infamous skullcap from his Strapping Young Lad days. Now that Townsend has released her photo book, Overexused + Underdevelopment, via Rocket88, it’s time to dive into all things hair-related tragedy.
In the video above, Townsend revisits some of his more questionable choices over the years and explains the reasoning behind them all.
“On to the more tragic part of overexposure and underdevelopment, but this is not the name I would have chosen,” Townsend said at the beginning of the video. “But when they presented it to me, I had to shyly admit that it meant a lot to my career and life trajectory.
“But one of the things I really realized was how bad my hair has been all these years. Now that I’m like this, you know, I’ve been bald, it’s the only thing that’s appropriate. Before I just surrendered to the fact that ‘maybe’ hairstyle was for me at this point, I considered several hairstyles. ”
Overexposed + Underdeveloped features captions written by Townsend himself, along with numerous never-before-published photographs. You can see overexposure + underdevelopment here.
