Hair styling has never been my forte. I can do a slicked back high bun and some basic braiding techniques, but my skills in the hair field are clearly not at the level I’d like. Especially considering I make a living writing about beauty (oops!).
One style I’ve always particularly wanted to master is the perfect salon-quality blowout. Every time I have my hair professionally styled, I’m in awe of how the stylist effortlessly uses a round brush and blow dryer to work through the layers. While there have been a lot of advancements in the hair tool category over the past few years (looking at you, blow-dry brushes!), most of them still prove to be somewhat difficult for beginners like me. But finally, the Shark FlexFusion + Straight arrived on my doorstep and a styling star (and me) was born.
Shark Flex Fusion + Straight
When I opened the box, I’ll be honest, the first word that came to mind was…horrible. This tool is an ultra-fast hair dryer that transforms into a multi-styler when you use the included Wet-or-Dry Fusion Brush, Wet-or-Dry Fusion Air Straightener, two 1.25-inch autowrap curlers, and a styling concentrator. The brush and straightener feature FlexFusion Styling technology, which combines powerful airflow with heat ceramic, and the dryer has a feature called Scalp Shield Mode, developed with dermatologists to protect the scalp from extreme heat. Equipped with innovative technology.
All of them are great, but I was worried about whether I would be able to use them properly since there are so many accessories. But after plucking up the courage to try this tool a few times, I’m happy to say that it’s easy for anyone to use and that it makes my hair look amazing (yes, I brag about it).

First, let me explain a little about the condition of my hair. My hair is wavy, colored (it’s been double-processed blonde for years), and prone to dryness and tangles. I usually wash my hair 2-3 times a week, alternating between air-drying and blow-drying depending on my mood. The first time I used FlexFusion, I washed and conditioned my hair as usual, let it dry roughly in Scalp Shield mode, then applied the Wet or Dry Fusion brush attachment (the brand recommends using Wet Mode on slightly damp hair). ). .
From there, I flipped my head over and let my hair roughly dry, then tried to imitate the moves I’ve seen hairstylists use to create volume and shape. The results were immediately impressive. My hair was super smooth yet voluminous and I was able to completely dry it without any heat damage using just a wet or dry Fusion brush. This is not only not recommended with other styling brushes, but is also not realistically possible.

The next test was to see if my breakouts lasted all night. As you can imagine, it lasted without the help of hairspray. For styling, I tried one of the tool’s automatic wrap curlers. And as much as I was surprised by the brush, I quickly found out that the autowrap curler was the real star of the show. All I had to do was spray some water on my hair to bring the moisture back in (the attachment works best on slightly damp hair), hold a section of hair a few inches away from the curlers, and bam — the hot air It wrapped my hair instantly. I wrapped it around the barrel without any snags, held it for a few seconds, then slid it out to expose the perfect coil. It was the fastest and easiest curling routine I’ve ever tried.
Prefer a more sophisticated look? That’s where the Wet or Dry Fusion Air Straightener comes in. As the name suggests, it’s a flat iron attachment with a powerful airflow that, when used on wet hair, provides a super smooth finish without any heat damage. Somehow, the straightener dried my damp hair just as quickly and easily as the wet or dry fusion brush attachment. Instead of giving me bouncy waves, my hair remained shiny and smooth.
After a week of using FlexFusion daily and trying different styles on both wet and dry hair, I’ve had more amazing hair days in a row than ever before. Now you need to think about what to do with the time and money you saved by avoiding salon mistakes.
