personal background
I was born in Moses Lake, Washington, where I lived and raised two wonderful sons who are now adults. They are my pride and joy. Austin is my oldest and we took the plunge and moved to Arizona last year. After six years in the Navy, he landed his dream job as a diesel mechanic. My youngest son, Caleb, is 26 years old and lives in Washington with his spouse, Brandon. They currently work for Boeing and hope to adopt twins someday.
professional background
While attending high school, I attended vocational school and beauty school. I was able to complete the course before graduating from high school, which led to my career as a hairdresser. When I was 18, I was self-employed and running a hairstyling business. From there, I went back to beauty school and became a cosmetology instructor. There are several salons I have worked in, including owning my own home salon, an assisted living salon, and currently live and own a suite in Arizona.
service
My services include women’s haircuts, highlights, color, perms, and updos.
What I like most about doing business
I love all of my loyal clients. Most of them are retired, no drama, just enjoying their lives, great conversations and good times in my salon chair.
Previous job
I actually worked in assisted living in Moses Lake for nine years.
What am I advertising?
We’ve changed locations and want snowbirds to know we’ve opened a new suite, Hair by Amanda (15142 W. Bell Road).
What am I excited about and why?
We will handle the highest quality products. Kevin Murphy products are known for their natural ingredients. His products speak for themselves. Kevin Murphy products are said to be like skin care for your hair. This company supports breast cancer awareness and is also very eco-friendly. Recycling packaging materials helps reduce landfill waste.
What is the philosophy of your favorite community and why?
I have been leading outreach efforts to the single mother community through our church in Moses Lake. We distributed bags containing shampoo, conditioner, and other goods. We also provided free haircuts and oil changes to single parents in our community. While here in Arizona, I want to give back to the veterans in our community.
interests and hobbies
Hairstyling, anything water related, boating, paddleboarding, wakeboarding, flowboarding, weightlifting, playing the piano, singing.
my guiding philosophy
You are the architect of your life.
my advice to young people
It is much more efficient to attend a vocational school for two years than to go to college for four years with a large amount of debt. After the first two years, your career path begins. Whatever you choose, keep educating yourself. Knowledge is power.
