Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has shaved off her natural hair in a bold move for her role in the new movie ‘AJA’.
Jegede, who is known for her naturally long hair, said she had been growing it for 10 years before making this decision.
Jegede shared the transformation on her Instagram account on Sunday, explaining that the decision was necessary to fully embody the character.
“I have always believed that to tell a true story, you need to give your all to the role, even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone.
“This belief was the catalyst for my decision to cut my hair for my ongoing film AJA. “It wasn’t an easy decision, but for me it was necessary to fully embody the character I was entrusted with bringing to life,” she wrote.
She explained that beyond dialogue and emotion, she needed “physical changes to connect me even more deeply with the character.”
Jegede emphasized that his dedication to his craft knows no bounds and his willingness to push boundaries to deliver outstanding performance.
She added: “Cutting my hair wasn’t just about changing my look. It was about giving up my comfort and embracing a new side of myself for the sake of the story. As an actor, I was ready to push the boundaries. I’ve always believed that I should be able to do that, and this role definitely does that for me.
“This decision also reflects my dedication to my craft. I take acting seriously and believe in fully immersing myself in every role I take on.
“AJA is a unique project that will challenge me and I am ready to give my all. It is important to not just look the part, but to be the character from the inside out. ”
Besides going bald for a movie role, the actress revealed that she is also learning to speak proper Yoruba.
“I love what I do so much that I can’t take any risks…I see myself as a tool to convey the right message. To bring the story to life if the script is worthy of it. I’ll do whatever it takes.
“Apart from this drastic change, I can now speak proper Yoruba,” she wrote.
Jegede’s bold action caused surprise and admiration for her courage among her fans.
