There are rich blondes and expensive blondes. Well, thanks to Addison Rae, diet blondes were born. The pop star shared a snapshot from the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards, tagging colorist Matt Rez (thank you so much, InStyle Imagemaker), and named her new look in honor of her chart-topping hit “Diet.” Pepsi named the shade of blonde “Diet Blonde.” ”

Before the slight change, Ray sported a warmer blonde color at the 2024 Academy Museum Gala held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. The new shade is a little cooler and will freshen up her dark roots. As for what goes on a diet, it’s between the singer and the colorist, and as we all know, it’s a relationship akin to attorney-client privilege.
In addition to the hair makeover, the CFDA Awards were an opportunity for Ray to showcase her fashion talent. She arrived at the event wearing an archival piece by Thom Browne. The look is from the designer’s 2018 runway collection, but Rae updated it with a seashell clutch, referencing her new song “Aquamarine.” On the catwalk, instead of long coats paired with gauze sequins and plaid skirts, Ray wore cinched corsets and pearl necklaces.
“I love trying new things and taking risks,” she told Vogue, who also wore a vintage look to the 2022 awards ceremony. Harper’s Bazaar reports that Ray’s focus on fashion is no coincidence. In the music video for “Aquamarine,” the singer cast 60s and 70s icons Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot. These are timeless fashion touchstones for everyone from pop stars to couturiers.
