I’m 36 and over the past few months I feel like I’ve finally found the right way to care for my curly hair. After struggling for years to keep it in check, I used to get up early in the morning to use a straightening iron, which resulted in extremely brittle and increased split ends.
Now, I’ve been going for about a month now without using any heat, except for using a diffuser when my hair is about halfway dry, and my hair has never looked better, thanks in large part to three of my new favorite products: Sea Slip Mineral Infused Curl Slime by Curls, a microfiber towel, and the Bounce Curl Define EdgeLift Brush.
Now I look forward to washing my hair
I wash my hair every few days, and in between washes, I refresh my curls by wetting any areas that are looking a little fuzzy, applying product to the area, and letting it air dry.
On days I wash my hair, I usually use Nexus Humectress shampoo and conditioner, but I also use a cleansing shampoo every two weeks to remove any product build-up, and in the shower, I use a wide-tooth comb to distribute the conditioner.
Right after I get out of the shower, when my hair is still pretty wet, I divide my hair into two sections and apply Curl Slime. It spreads really well throughout my hair. I have thick hair and I often feel like I have to put on a lot of product, but this product has a nice slip and I feel like it spreads evenly throughout my hair without me using too much.

The Bounce Curl Brush transformed my hair styling
Next, separate your hair into sections and “brush style” it using a Bounce Curl Brush. This takes a few minutes, but it will save you time in the long run because you won’t have to use heat to set the curls. Brush your hair in small sections at a time, lifting from the roots and creating clumps with the end of the brush, allowing the curls to form into defined curls as they dry.

Once you’ve completed this step, flip your head over and wrap it in a microfiber towel and forget about it for a while and watch some show or chase your dog around the house while you try to teach him how to play with his toys.
Once your hair is about half dry, finish it off with a hairdryer with a diffuser attachment, which allows you to expose your hair to the wind without messing up your curls. If you’re in a rush, instead of letting it air dry for a while, style it with a brush, pat it dry with a towel, and then immediately use the diffuser.
That’s it, you’re ready to go! Once it’s completely dry, you might untangle some curls to add some volume if they’re too big and crisp or clumpy, but that’s all you need. No more having to go and fix your curls with a curling iron because they just aren’t working. It just makes things so much easier.
