A long-established hair salon in Clarendon has reopened after undergoing an extensive interior makeover.
After 14 years in business, Urban Hello Salon, located at 2900 Clarendon Blvd., has changed its previous blue interior for a palette of white marble and gold and black. Co-owner Nash Noufal told ARLnow that the changes were aimed at creating a “timeless” aesthetic while also adding fixtures that will enhance the customer experience.
“This is the biggest renovation we’ve ever done,” Noufal said. “We wanted to do a complete reset this time. We wanted to reset for everybody, we wanted to reset for ourselves, we wanted to reset for our customers.”
A highlight of the renovated salon is a new illuminated chandelier above the reception lobby, which is intended to evoke “movement and softness with an element of shock.”
“You feel like you’re in a hotel or a luxury industry, right? That’s the feeling we want you to have when you walk in,” Noufal said. “You feel like you’re somewhere special.”
Behind the reception desk is a new table with a mirror, power outlets and USB ports, designed to allow up to six customers to operate the equipment and relax during their hair treatment or colouring session.
The “color lab,” previously located in the center of the salon, has now been moved to the back of the space and is now a dedicated room with hundreds of cubbies for color tubes and a large sink for washing.
Noufal says one of the goals of the renovation was to evoke certain emotions. The shampoo station, for example, was redesigned with relaxation in mind. Dark tones with black stone paneling and new towel warmers emphasize comfort and calm.
“We wanted to create a chic, boutique, upscale feel. We wanted it to be timeless,” Noufal said.
The salon reopened last Thursday, September 19. Renovations began in August, with staff working on the project for three hours every morning to continue serving customers.
Looking ahead, Noufal said there are further updates planned for Urban Halo in the next six months, but for now the focus is on “improving the customer experience.”
