The past year has been full of big changes for Angelina Jolie. This applies to her personal life as well as her professional life, where her scope has expanded significantly. She has focused on producing with an emphasis on live theater, dabbled in fashion design with her own label, Atelier Jolie, and toured film festivals. Aesthetically, there’s also been quite a shift. She’s gradually changed her trademark espresso-colored hair to a lighter blonde, and she’s tried out a variety of styles on the red carpet. But for her latest magazine cover, she’s really gone all out. Jolie shows off her curly hair on the new cover of CR Fashion Book. The vibrant, vintage-inspired look, which combines swirls and coils, gives the impression that she just emerged from a disco dance floor. It’s a far cry from the polished and edgy vibe she usually chooses for her public appearances. Judging by the public’s reaction to the cover reveal, this may be one of her coolest moves yet.
Jolie’s cover is actually part of a special issue called “CR Love & Fantasy,” and it only made sense to feature such a legendary figure in this limited-edition, large booklet, so her multi-page photoshoot is accompanied by an in-depth interview with the magazine’s founder and editor-in-chief, Carine Roitfeld.
While not all of Jolie’s photos feature those tightly coiled blonde curls, the style arguably features in some of her most memorable images. The look not only adds plenty of volume, movement, and shape, but it also helps to accentuate the dimension of her gold-toned blonde locks. Renato Campora, a celebrity pro who works regularly with Jolie on various appearances and campaigns, styled the curls for the shoot using Maria Nira products for color-treated hair.
Casual fans know that Jolie is always the type to push the envelope, but the past few months have been especially exciting: She debuted a new tattoo at the 2024 Tony Awards, showed off her timeless style at the Venice Film Festival while promoting her upcoming Maria Callas biopic, and has begun to focus on her grown children’s professional endeavors. If anything, her bold disco curls just highlight her constant willingness to try new things.
