Mielle Organics has come under intense criticism after multiple customers claim its products caused hair loss.
Some argue that Procter & Gamble began experiencing its effects after it acquired Miel.
However, the company vehemently denies the accusations of changing the formulation of its products.
Now, The Shade Room’s Justin Carter is investigating the hair loss claims on TSR Investigates.
Here’s what customers are saying about Mielle Organics and their hair loss allegations
Carter said Miel was committed to providing customers with “high quality” products formulated with “healthy” and “mostly organic” ingredients. But consumers who have recently used the brand’s Rosemary and Mint collection may think otherwise.
One customer, Courtney Brown, reportedly started using Miel products around 2016. Brown told Carter that after using Miel recently, she noticed that “a lot” of it was falling out in “clumps.” A second customer named Jade Robertson told Carter she started using the Rosemary and Mint collection in 2022.
Robertson said of her recent use of the product, “I was noticing my edges getting thinner, and I noticed that excess hair was falling out, like clumps of hair.” he claimed.
After undergoing medical tests and gradually removing her use of the brand, Robertson began seeing others share similar alleged experiences on social media.
Biochemist takes note of controversy surrounding hair care companies
Mr. Carter spoke exclusively with biochemist and biophysicist Dr. Jocelyn Nelson about the allegations against Mr. Miel. Nelson said it’s unclear whether Procter & Gamble still uses the same suppliers Miel used when it started.
“And different suppliers have different standards,” Nelson explained.
