If you agree to be a bridesmaid, you are usually expected to attend at least some events, such as the bridal shower, bachelorette party, and rehearsal dinner, and to contribute cash to help fund these celebrations.
You may also be tasked with planning some aspects of your big day, such as sending out invitations and checking in with vendors.
But do you think bridesmaids need to change their looks for the wedding?
This 24-year-old woman has been wrestling with the same question ever since she was asked to attend her sister’s bridal party.
For background, her sister is 28 years old and is planning to get married in 2 months. They never had an easy relationship either.
She was more independent as a child. Her younger sister, on the other hand, was the “golden child” of their family. Still, she agreed to attend her sister’s wedding.
“When she asked me to be a bridesmaid, I was excited to support her, but the situation quickly became uncomfortable,” she recalled.
According to her, it’s because her sister has always been very concerned about her appearance. So her sister actually asked her to dye her hair (which was originally a bright red shade) a “more neutral color” for her wedding photos.
She also couldn’t believe the request, but her sister thought it was okay.
