Halle Berry has given fans a behind-the-scenes look at her transformation for her latest film, including the fake tattoos and fake armpit hair she needed for her role.
The 58-year-old actress, who plays Mom in the horror thriller Never Let Go, opened up about what it took to embody her fictional role in an Instagram post on Saturday, September 28. .
Berry captioned a photo of her theatrical underarm look and other behind-the-scenes images, “Mom, in the making 🎥.” “One of the most complex characters I’ve had the pleasure of embodying. #NeverLetGo is in theaters everywhere!”

In the first clip of the post, Berry is seen sitting next to makeup artist Norma Patton Rowin, and the two laugh together as they look at her fake armpit hair. “So, what’s going on here, Norma?” Berry asked Patton-Lawyn. “What did you do? What did you do there, Norma?”
After the makeup artist shared a laugh with Berry about “What I Did to You,” the actress also showed off her tweaked eyebrows and the realistic tattoos she got for the performance.
“Halle, thank you for taking us to the limits of your character! It was so much fun working with you to create Mama 🙏🏽💗,” the makeup artist commented.

The footage shows the staff clapping in praise of what appeared to be a successful shoot on the same day. Never let go.
According to the film’s official synopsis, the Academy Award winner plays a “protective mother” to twin sons played by Anthony B. Jenkins and Percy Daggs IV, whose “only protection” is “home and family.” It is said to be a “protective bond.”
“Needing to always stay connected, they urged each other to cling to each other and never let go, even when tying themselves with ropes. But one of the boys wondered if evil was real. “When they held each other, the bonds that bound them were severed, sparking a terrifying fight for survival,” added the synopsis for the film, directed by Alexandre Aja.

Berry spoke about the film at CinemaCon in April, revealing that he had to do “a little bit of method acting” to get into the role. At the time, she said that her character in the horror film was “in the woods eating bugs and frogs and raw frogs,” and that she “had to actually skin a squirrel.”
“These things gave me the great challenge of creating a reality within this world that felt so foreign,” she said.
PEOPLE previously reported that PETA confirmed that director Aja only used realistic-looking props in the production.
“Never Let Go” is currently in theaters.
