It can be difficult to feel positive when undergoing treatment. That’s why Andy Palmer and his daughter Lauren Jerami founded Operation: Beautiful in 2014.
“What we do is provide wigs to everyone who is experiencing any type of medically related hair loss. So we offer teenagers, women of all ages, in addition to wigs, a monthly We offer social gatherings, spa treatments, house cleaning, meals, counseling services, yoga classes, and essential oils. We offer a holistic wellness package while they are on a therapeutic or personal journey. “We are trying to do that,” Palmer explained.
They explained that they will be holding a Gatsby-themed gala fundraiser at the Richland Firehall on Oct. 12 that will feature several speakers, including women who have been positively impacted by the program.
Jerami said, “We hope to raise enough funds to handle our annual revenue this year. All of our annual budget goes to direct services to women, which means purchasing wigs. No matter what, it’s an additional service to help you feel like you’ve regained some form of normalcy in your life while undergoing treatment.”
Palmer said “Operation: BeYoutiful” is primarily aimed at women in Cambria and Somerset counties, but the program is open to anyone who wants to travel to the area. She added that several more fundraisers will be held throughout the remainder of the year.
“Providing wigs to women going through this situation is just the first part of that. But other items, other products and services we offer, are tailored to their needs and desires. It really touches on all the different aspects,” Palmer said.
